Buying Guide - Festoon Light Bulbs

🌱 Let's chat about bulbs and landfill!

1. Choose Lights with replaceable bulbs

Keep in mind, not all companies offer replaceable bulbs or you can't remove the bulbs, so make sure to check before purchasing. We don't want festoon lights thrown in landfill because 9/10 bulbs work.

Often the cheaper festoon lights will feature non replaceable bulbs. Should one bulb blow or break you cannot remove it. No one wants a half lit festoon cable!

Review for LOVE YOUR LIGHTS

"We had to replace a few bulbs and the service was exceptional. Got the new bulbs within 2 days of ordering. WOW!"

Review from "another company"

"Lights worked great but then bulbs started dying one buy one over the course of a year. YOU CANT REPLACE THE BULBS. I didn't know that."

Note the lights below might look okay they do not feature replaceable bulbs!

Often bulbs which look like the one below cannot be replaced.

All our festoon lights feature replaceable bulbs yet our bulb accessories are one of our lowest sellers - we take that as a good thing. Quality that lasts!

2. Purchase from a company that ranges spare bulbs for purchase

While you often read the term 'warm white' this can mean multiple colour options. The wattage and lumens will also impact the overall look of your light.

Therefore it is simply just purchasing a warm white bulb.

At Love Your Lights when you need a replacement bulb you will get a bulb which is compatible with your lights. Same colour, same type, sam look and same brightness.

3. Make sure you check your bulb is compatible with your festoon light set

You will want compatibility with:

  • Bulb Colour - Warm White 2700K
  • Bulb Material Type - plastic or glass
  • Bulb Lumens - range from 30 to around 600
  • Bulb Wattage - range from 0.5 to around 5w (if LED)
  • Bulb Type - preferably LED
  • Festoon Cable voltage - usually low voltage or 230v
  • Festoon Lamp Holder Size - our most popular is E27

If in doubt give us a call and we'll guide you in the right direction
